To change childhood obesity they need our help now!

Why is childhood obesity happening?

If you ask any health care professional, they will tell you that childhood obesity has become an epidemic. Because of these rising rates of obesity, children are developing the adult diseases of type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure.

There are many causes of this epidemic. Some include:

  • Too much sugar and junk food.
  • An inactive lifestyle.
  • Emotional eating.
  • Lack of knowledge or desire of cooking.
  • The inability to purchase healthy foods.
  • Illness.

My goal with this website is to provide you with quality information and resources to assist you in the journey of helping your child achieve and maintain a healthy weight. I will do it with lots of love and kindness, however, I will not be providing any medical advice. We will leave that up to your health care professionals.

There are many things we can do to promote health and well-being.

Cooking Corner

One of the main things we need to do, in my opinion, is to revive the lost art of cooking. Many people either do not like to cook, do not have time to cook, or cannot afford to buy the ingredients to prepare flavorful and healthy meals.

If they learn these skills, especially when they are young, children will reduce the consumption of junk food as a quick fix when they are hungry. They will also develop the confidence they need to make healthy decisions on their own and carry this into adulthood.

The Dangers of Sugar

A major cause of childhood obesity is the over consumption of sugar. One of the biggest offenders is drinking soda pop. It has now become so common for people to regularly consume pop that this sugar-laden drink is considered a staple in many diets.

Joyous Movement

Some people have no desire to play sports. So what else can we do to get our bodies moving? Together we can figure out some fun activities to engage your loved ones and burn the extra calories they need to become happy, healthy, and fit.

Fun on the Farm

We will learn how to grow some fresh, delicious vegetables‚Ķ even if it is just on your balcony or windowsill.

Time For Action

So let's roll up our sleeves and get to work to change childhood obesity. I look forward to the privilege of working and having fun together. Won't you join me?
